Guitar Heroes: Guitar Fest 2006 - now Guitar Heroes 2007 The proposed Guitar Heroes: Guitar Fest 2006 timing has been changed to spring time in 2007 due to the huge interest and support from major commercial and community sponsorship coming on board. Guitar Heroes: Guitar Fest co-ordinator Jim Guider said: "This major sponsorship and support will cement the inaugural Guitar Heroes: Guitar Fest to be a high profile high entry event with substantial community and youth involvement across the Balmain and Sydney landscape.’’ Conditions of this major sponsorship and support revolve around having a long lead up period until GH:GF takes place in 2007. Guitar Heroes Shows always deliver exciting and exceptional up-close guitar experiences! Guitar Heroes events have been playing all around the country. From The Basement in Sydney to The Espy in Melbourne, to iconic venues like The Empire and The Vanguard, The Albert Tamworth and most recently, on the Gold Coast at the huge AMAC conference. These great events stem from Steve Flack’s dedication to the craft, and his delight in collaborating with blues and rock Legends. An amazing array of guitarists have been on display. The list of names associated with Guitar Heroes is incredible Mick Cocks (Rose Tattoo, Pete Wells Band), Phil Manning (Chain), Dom Turner (Backsliders), Jim Kelly (Crossfire), Kevin Pratt (Black Label), Bill Chambers, Chris Turner (Buffalo, Rose Tattoo, Pete Wells Band), Dai Pritchard (Billy Thorpe band), Joe Travers (Ray Brown and the Whispers)… these are some who’ve played live with Steve. An international flavour was added when Seymour Duncan, of Seymour Duncan’s pickups fame, also joined the fray. Steve Flack’s album Guitar Heroes salutes and incorporates many more, including Ian Moss and Pete Wells himself! There are the bass players too, Drum Media’s Michael Smith (current Guitar Heroes bass guitarist), Chris Bailey (The Angels), Denny Burgess (Masters Apprentices), Steve King (Rose Tattoo, Pete Wells Band), Ray Beadle, Adam Pringle and Ron Philpott, master of the jazz bass. Then of course, to back all these guitar sounds, Steve loves a good drummer currently working with none other than Mick O’Shea, but also using Mal Green (Split Enz), Colin Burgess (Masters Apprentices), Andrew Brodie and the hot Gordon Rytmeister. And, in a move typical of Steve Flack and his mentor Jim Guider from Tamworth’s Musician's Headquarters, the Guitar Heroes shows also embrace up-and-coming rising stars of Australia. There is always a Young Gun included in the show… and some events are dedicated entirely to Young Guns. So Guitar Heroes is absolutely not to be missed, by all lovers of the mighty axe! The show at Manly Fishos (270 Pittwater Rd) on Wed 4th October has another superb lineup (as outlined above). Doors open 8pm, and tickets are on sale now from local stores Mall Music (9905 6966) or Sandy’s Record Bar, Dee Why (9982 7353) or will be available for $14 at the door on the night.
